I didn't bother sharing it on the internet simply because why should I share solutions with a company like Chase Bank for free? But since they are now offering an almost identical version to my idea, I will share that particular idea.

Customers would have six months to one year to pay down their debt at the 2% monthly minimum, or a higher amount every month, if they could afford it, and then, whatever that lowered their monthly minimum to payment to 6 months to one year from now, the customer would agree to have payment amount frozen even as the debt reduced.

MOST PEOPLE could accept that because it ultimately means that the payment amount they would be locked into would be LESS than it presently was, (unless they were using their card for new purchases) but it would also satisfy Chase's goal of having the debts be paid down in a known time quantity.

The remaining problem I have however is, I don't want to talk to a Chase "counselor" who is going to ask me too many personal questions that won't fit inside of any kind of a financial box that they have pre-arranged.

I took time from work to take care of both of my parents. My Income from the last couple of years is in no way indicative of my future income, so do I lie to this person, or get humilated for taking care of my elderly parents and told I don't qualify?

Just make this specific offer available to all of your customers and be done with it, Chase Bank.Alessandro Machihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06316327488702524564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7112520859422365572.post-69721384603607849482009-07-11T14:08:28.224-07:002009-07-11T14:08:28.224-07:00Like so many others we got the 2% to 5% minimum pa...Like so many others we got the 2% to 5% minimum payment increase notice. Our payments would go from $525 to $1,300.
We used the low rate balance tranfer checks at 3.99% and 4.99% - the last one was around Nov 2008!
We called the regular number and got the same story even after talking to a supervisor. They gave us a credit counseling # and a Chase Hardship #.
I was steamed and stressed.
Then after coming on the web and finding out that the Chase Hardship line was helping some folks I just called it.
Sure enough we were eligible to close our account and receive a 5 year loan at a 2% interest rate and fixed payments lower than our current payment. Only negative that I could see was that our payments will not go down as the balance goes down.
Totally bizzare that they would actually reduce our interest rate but hell we'll take it!
Not sure how many people they are offering this to but wanted to share and give some hope to others in the same situation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7112520859422365572.post-17763003785905201832009-07-02T11:47:48.979-07:002009-07-02T11:47:48.979-07:00In the immortal words of Albert Einstein, Just wha...In the immortal words of Albert Einstein, Just what does Chase Bank want? Then I paid off the credit card and got a letter saying I did not use the card enough so they were closing the account.
I was never late with a payment and only use credit cards when I have to.
I had used it to book a flight this coming October.
